Dr. Lauren Pincus
Assistant Professor of Chemistry
Dr. Lauren Pincus is an Assistant Professor of Chemistry at the George Washington University.
She was formerly a postdoc in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Princeton University and an NSF Earth Sciences Postdoctoral Fellow and Harry H. Hess Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Geosciences at Princeton.
Dr. Pincus’ research interests lie at the intersection of chemistry, geoscience, and environmental engineering. She uses fundamental knowledge from these subject areas to solve complex interdisciplinary environmental problems such as sustainable and selective water treatment, climate change adaptation and mitigation, soil degradation, and contaminant fate.
Dr. Pincus received her PhD from the Yale School of the Environment and her undergraduate degree as a double major in chemistry and geology from Middlebury College while competing as a nationally ranked track and field collegiate athlete.
Dr. Pincus’ research has been recognized with the ACS ENVR Graduate Student Award, ACS ENVR Certificate of Merit, the AAAS/Science Program for Excellence in Science, NSF GRFP Honorable Mention, and as a nominee for the Schmidt Science Fellowship, among other awards.
